Digital Satellite Compression systems have substantially lowered the distribution costs of video services across the Americas, while the Internet has lowered the distribution costs of text and data around the world.  The real time distribution of video and text is expanding from a very narrow regionally focused audience to numerous audiences across numerous countries.  New businesses have been created to distribute North American television, radio and data based services to countries and jurisdictions which have never before been economically feasible.

Most traditional owners and distributors of content are very familiar with North American broadcasting laws, related regulations and copyright tariffs.  However, most sovereign countries have their own laws, and most of these laws and regulations are very different from those in North America. Hence the need for a comprehensive international guide/data base on the respective laws and regulations for all parties, from the artist through to the local distributor.

At the request of some of our international clients, we have developed a database of broadcast regulations in the Americas. Our structured format lets you find, sort, compare and translate broadcasting and related regulations quickly and easily.

This new regulatory data base and management system includes the following:

    • Summary of the respective regulations and copyright tariffs in each country tracked.
    • Summaries are translated into English. Most of South and Central America and much of the Caribbean’s countries’ regulations are in Spanish.
    • Links and specific numerical references are provided for each summary to the respective base regulations and tariffs.
    • The Database is formatted into a standard set of categories. Every country’s regulations/tariffs are then summarized and organized accordingly. This allows the user to find, sort, and compare regulations much more easily.
The Database is structured in the following categories and subcategories:
