    Don Harwood

    Don Harwood is Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of Mediastats Inc. and MediaLAB. Prior to forming Mediastats, he was Vice-president of BBM Bureau of Broadcast Measurement, a position he held for seven years. Before that, Don worked as a research officer for Beacon Research, the Unilever subsidiary, in Australia. Prior to moving to Australia, Don worked in a similar position with the CBC in Ottawa.

    Don received his education from Carleton, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Don's specialties include an expert knowledge of research, statistical and mathematical methods and applications. While semi-retiring in June of 1996, Don still looks after the company's finances and investments, as well as remaining active in product development and industry relations. Don also inputs into research/statistical projects.

    Kerry Wicks

    Kerry Wicks is President and Chief Executive Officer of Mediastats Inc. and MediaLAB. Kerry took over this position in June 1996, after serving for five years as the company's Vice-President of Business Development.

    Kerry received her education from Ryerson Polytechnic University, where she studied business and hotel management and from the University of Toronto, where she studied languages and political science.

    In addition to overseeing all operations of both companies, Kerry specializes in product development and communications industry research/consulting. Kerry is also a junior-level programmer and a computer system designer/specifier. Kerry speaks English, French, Spanish and German.

    John Rode

    John Rode is Senior Vice-President and Chief Information Officer, Mediastats Inc. and MediaLAB.

    John Rode founded John Rode Data Systems (JRDS) in 1984, which was renamed MediaLAB in 1993, when taken over by Mediastats Inc. JRDSs original mission was to create computer systems specifically for the broadcast industry. John's experience in the industry includes broadcast engineer, radio personality, radio station manager, computer programmer, system and software designer. 

    As the head of technology for both companies, John designs and supervises the creation of all in-house computer and communication systems used at Mediastats Inc. and MediaLAB.

    John is also the chief designer of the MediaLAB administration software product line.

    John's education includes a Bachelor of Science from UCLA and a degree in computer science from the University of Toronto. John is bilingual (English and Spanish).

    Judy Harwood is Vice-President and Secretary Treasurer of Mediastats Inc. and MediaLAB, and has been since the start of both companies. Judy, while partially retired, still remains active in the area of system co-ordination, which entails supervision and organization of data acquisition, inputting, and disseminating functions. Judy also oversees the editing of publications, including the annual Cable GuideTM, a reference resource on and for the Canadian cable industry.

    Judy's background is journalism. She also received her degree from Carleton. Prior to co-founding Mediastats with husband Don, Judy held several positions as chief editor of publications, both in Canada and Australia. Her primary position in Australia was that of editor of an engineering journal.

    THE ASSOCIATES

    Mohamed Abdulla

    Mohamed is Mediastats Manager of Information Controls. As such he is in charge of data processing and integrity. Mohamed is the "gate keeper" of Mediastats data, checking files as they come into Mediastats premises, and testing data as it goes out. Mohamed is also in charge of maintaining and upgrading Mediastats in-house data systems.

    Mohamed Abdulla graduated from the University of Waterloo in computer science in January of 1995, after which he came to work for Mediastats.

    Evelyn Bacchus

    Evelyn is a Research Officer, Schedule and Simulcast Data Services. She is responsible for maintaining and updating data pertaining to Simulcast, Customer Satisfaction and Percentage Reports as well as assisting in Pay TV research. She provides customer service and other administrative support functions.

    Evelyn comes to Mediastats with a background in the banking sector including account management and also in graphic design and layout.

    Nina Buckingham

    Nina Buckingham looks after Marketing and Publishing. She is responsible for the development and maintenance of marketing and sales programs and packages. Nina also is responsible for French television ratings.  Nina completed her Bachelor studies at Ryerson School of Journalism.

    Jim Elder

    Jim is Senior Research Officer, Schedule and Simulcast Data Services. In this capacity he is in charge of all data control files pertaining to these systems. Jim also handles all questions pertaining to BDU regulations, and how the Mediastats data reflects CRTC policy.

    Jim received an Honors Bachelor of Arts from York University in English and Psychology.

    Karen Poole

    Karen is Supervisor of Mediastats Schedule and Simulcast Data Services. As such she coordinates information coming into Mediastats, the checking and entry thereof, and that data's disbursement. Any questions regarding these data sets, their origins and implications can be directed to Karen

    Jim Strickland

    Jim is Mediastats Manager of Information Services. As such he is a senior consultant who specializes in the formatting and analysis of information. Jim's current focus is map-based "thematic" data analysis, utilizing such data sets as cable and wireless service boundaries with Statistics Canada data. (See retail information.)

    Jim Strickland is a computer programmer and a master software user. He has written computer software in dBASE for public relations houses and for BT Vision in England.

    Jim Torkos

    Jim Torkos is Supervisor of Mediastats Cable and Pay Television Data Services. As such he coordinates information coming into Mediastats, the checking and entry thereof, and that data's disbursement. Jim will also be handling the production of Mediastats new international data sets.

    Jim received a Bachelor of Arts in Math for Commerce (statistics) from York University.

    Anne Wicks

    Anne is the Supervisor of International Research. As such, she compiles, verifies and formats summary data material relating to cable and specialty channel distribution in Canada and internationally. Anne is available to support clients with respect to all Data Warehouse Series.

    Anne's background is that of Retail Sales Manager and Associate, with experience in employee management.

    Scott Wicks

    Scott Wicks is Manager of Special Projects. In this capacity, Scott tracks large research projects from their outset to completion. This includes working on a project's quote and specification, as well as employing and supervising Mediastats' large home office staff in capacities such as data acquisition, entry and checking. Scott is also in charge of Mediastats teleresearch crew.
